The AHS round of the Shelor Motor Mile Growing the future talent show will be held on Thursday October 17th at 6:30pm.Please talk to Mr. Sturgill to sign up for a time. Please come out to show all of AHS how much talent we have! All kinds of acts are encouraged to perform. There is a $250 prize for 1st place, $150 for 2nd place and $100 for 3rd place. There is a signup sheet in the main office, for any other questions please see Mr. Sturgill. 


Any senior planning to attend UVA next year and interested in the Jefferson Scholarship please come to the counseling office and speak with Ms. Sutherland.


Attention Seniors- College Application is set for October 23rd! Seniors start working on those app and get them ready to submit -remember MCPS will pay for 2 applications for each senior!


Attention Seniors, AHS will have onsite admission opportunities for Virginia Tech and Radford University, this will let you know of an admission decision before Thanksgiving break! Stop by school counseling to sign up! Applications, SRARs and transcripts are due no later than Nov 1st for VT and Oct 31 for RU


Hey Beta Club members and anyone else interested in community service!  We are in need of students to help with parking for the Virginia Tech Football game on Saturday October 12.  We need students to volunteer at least 2 hours of their time between the hours of 11 and 5. Please see Mrs. Paterson in Room B202 if you are interested!


FCA members, please remember that if you plan  to go on the field trip this Saturday to Scaremare, you need to have your money to Coach Gaynor before we go.  Don't forget your club dues if you haven't paid yet.


Ping Pong Members, make sure you have your dues to Coach Gaynor  ASAP so he can plan a club day.


Mary Baldwin College will be here Monday, October 14th at 10:15 for a visit, Roanoke College will be here Wednesday, October 16th at 10:15 and Ferrum College will be here Friday, October 18 at 10:15.  If you would like to meet with them, please see Mrs. Martin in the Counseling Office to sign up.


Congratulations to the JV and Varsity Volleyball Teams for defeating Grayson Co on the road last night.   Both teams won in straight sets.

The following Work Based Learning Students need to report to Ms. Gilmer's room:  Addison Blevins, Justin Boyd, Matthew Caldwell, Jayden Duncan, Abby Fillingham, Kevin Howard, Blake Hughes, Alyssa Lakey, Seth McGuire, Chris Obiso, Brady Taylor. Please report to Ms. Gilmer's room.


Tomorrow, all juniors and sophomores that signed up will be taking the PSAT test. Please do not travel down the Junior hallway, including accessing lockers. If you are taking the test, you will report directly to your test location 1st thing in the morning. You will be directed to your assigned testing location by administration and the testing coordinators. Thank you.

Seniors who are applying to colleges, do you have questions? If so Ms. Sullivan and Ms. Murden will hold a question and answer session on Monday October 21 during SOAR in the auditorium. If you would like to attend please sign up in school counseling.
